A Barrow Transport Group Members Trip took us to the centre of York with its imposing buildings and of course, the railway station. York station is a train enthusiast dream. With a wide range of traction and rolling stock serving a wide variety of destinations.
The station is currently operated by Virgin Trains East Coast, many of the trains shown here are still bearing the livery of their former operator East Coast which for a short period, saw partial nationalization of Brittan's Rail Network. The station is also served frequently by Transpennine Express, Cross Country and Northern Rail. The station is also served by the less frequent, Grand Central which operates out of London Kings Cross to Bradford and Sunderland with a small pool of HST's and Class 180 Adelante's.
For the first time on my channel, you will see Class 43's HST's, Class 91's with DVT's, Cross Country Voyagers and even the odd Pacer and to cap it all, the weather was perfect for some nice HD Pictures. With the lightest of cool breezes and wanting to keep a low profile on the station, the external microphone is not used. The tripod is also not used as with the curvaceous nature of the station, I don't consider it to be tripod friendly and it is much easier to do camerawork by hand.
